Fished this great event today. Ran 3hrs one way to get to our fish. 3hrs there, 1 mud flat, 1 spun prop bushen, 1 broken hose on the livewell, 3.5 hrs back. If it had not been for my new Lowrance LCX 332-c color graph/GPS, we could never have found our way. Also, my Nitro 901 with the 200 opti-max made it possible to have that type range.
Anyway that doesn't leave much fishing time!!! But it was enough time to catch 5 bass that weighed in at 21.25lbs!!!! Yes, it is summer time. we caught a quick limit on V&M Bayou Bull Frogs and them flipped for the bigger fish with Falcon Jigs and V&M High tails. All plastics were rigged with Mustad Ultra Point hooks.

Took first place with 13.62lbs. Fished the basin, started of fishing Falcon Buzz Baits early and boated the first keeper of the day. Switched to flipping V&M High Tails Blk/Blue and Blk/Red. Had a limit by 10 am. It seemed as though we couldn't increase our size where we were, so we went on a controlled Panic run. Hit many spots I where had caught bigger fish and just kept jumping around. Picked up a 3.91lber flipping and culled 2 other fish on a C.J. Custom Crank Bait. Still had 2 smaller fish on the stringer with only 30 minutes to go. Decided to make a run to a spot I usually catch a good fish. Got there with only around 10 minutes to fish. After several casts with a custom Fat Ratz Spinner bait, there he was, a solid 3lber to cull our smallest fish. Just enought to take the win! For more info on the lures/baits I used, check out my sponsor page.

Using some old techniques and patience, Steve and Rick Allen push by a Media Bass Big "D" Division made up 71 teams at Cedar Creek. The lower water conditions seemed to isolate larger fish. We had two small fish at noon that we needed to cull and going back some some old techniques really paid off. I was pleased to win thins tournament which was loaded with some tough competitors like Steve Smith, Charlie Regan, Terry Peacock, Gary Tuggle and Shane Grey and James Matthew who finished 3rd.
